We experiment with these materials ourselves to see how they react so you can get our opinion about these new materials before you purchase. If you have a desire to be using the most advanced materials available or have an opinion about what is offered in the store please let us know. Hot Sticks Encaustic Wax Paint feature the same professional artist quality colors you find in the Hot Cakes line but come in a versatile artist-friendly stick. Hot Sticks are available in all 86 colors (72 of which are single pigment paints) plus Wax Medium and XD Wax Medium. These artist-quality colors are made from the most beautiful pigments, the finest Damar Resin, and United States Pharmaceutical Grade (USP) Beeswax. The Perfect Shape!
The Hot Stick design is very versatile - use Hot Sticks for encaustic painting, printmaking, rubbings, and even mixed media techniques. Hot Sticks can be melted directly on your hot palette to create a puddle of color for your brush or can be applied directly on a heated substrate. When applied to a heated substrate, Hot Sticks glide just like lipstick on your piece creating those vibrant colors or subtle earth tones you love. The Hot Stick will fit comfortable in your hand, apply just the tip of the Hot Stick to your heated substrate to paint more finer details of your painting or swipe the Hot Stick on it's side to make bold strokes of color.

The Perfect Size!
You can color mix using your Hot Stick colors directly on your painting, your hot palette or melt them together in a large tin to create custom mixes. You will have immediate color at your fingertips. Melt as little or as much encaustic paint as you want!

Arches Oil Paper is specially formulated for use with oil media — and requires no preparation!

This 140 lb (300 gsm) high-tech paper was specifically designed for oil painting, yet it maintains the look and feel of traditional Arches papers. It features a powerful, efficient oil barrier that absorbs water, solvents, and binders evenly while allowing the paint and pigment to remain on the surface.

Arches Oil Paper has an exceptionally tough surface. It withstands heavy brushing with stiff bristle brushes, as well as wet paint removal with turpentine and a rag. It also stands up well to palette knives.

This paper is "ready to use" without preparation, making it less brittle and stiff than gessoed papers and resistant to chipping or cracking. What's more, because it's a natural Arches paper, it can easily be cut to a desired size, rolled, and transported.

TOOLS THAT MOVE PAINT
Catalyst is an innovative new line of creative tools for artists. Catalyst Polytip Bristle brushes are super stiff, but truly responsive. Catalyst Blades and Wedges are a new kind of tool made of engineered silicone.

CATALYST BLADES & WEDGES
Not quite a brush. Not quite a palette knife. Catalyst tools are crafted from flexible silicone to allow artists a new form of expression. Available in two unique styles: Catalyst Wedges are ergonomically designed to fit in your hand allowing a direct interaction with your work. Catalyst Blades are mounted on artist brush handles offering a blend of tradition and innovation.

Designed for use with heavy-bodied paints, Catalyst is at home with oils, acrylics, and water-miscible oils. Because they are heat-resistant, they excel with encaustics. Artists are using them with plaster, clay, and even frosting. Made of FDA-approved silicone, Catalyst Blades and Wedges are great for food crafting.

Clean-up is a breeze with Catalyst Blades and Wedges. The silicone is easy to wipe clean and is solvent resistant. Clean up in most cases can be done with mild soap and water. Dried paint can be peeled off the silicone surface. Catalyst blades can even be separated from their wood handles for cleaning and easily replaced when dry.
