Description: Donald Voss, BFA, teacher, professional artist, bookmaker & art material rep for many manufacturers (including Golden Acrylics) has offered to share his working experience with Golden Acrylics that he has taught himself and learned from several mentors, including Nancy Reyner, and Tim Ely.

Acrylic Workshop – The Medium is the Message II

Building on what was learned in Level 1 workshop, students will explore mixing several techniques together with the goal of completing or nearly completing a single work.

This workshop will focus on the many Golden mediums available to artists.  Working with these media, the workshop will bring fibers, paper, sand, powders and various inks, paint, drawing and mark making tools into the acrylic painting media.  Exploring inks, paint and media together, this workshop is an exploration of media and technique.  Participants are encouraged to explore media as message.  Artists will bring their own images and ideas to the workshop and infuse these with the wild world of Golden media available to them.

Working from the intuitive side of our creativity, this workshop will explore Golden Acrylic Media and a host of mixed media inclusions.

Participants will:

  1. Explore how to layer different techniques to produce an overall message, theme or idea in their works.
  2. Work realistically or learn how to abstract.
  3. Create a final work no less than 18x24 to 24x36.
  4. Mix drawing, ink, charcoal as well as paint into the project.
  5. Preplan and prepare base surface before the workshop.
  6. *Create a plan ahead of the workshop.
  7. Learn basic design principles including how to divide your work area classically using sacred geometry and proportions with regard to planning a work.
  8. Use of rulers, compasses and lines to accent the message of the work.

    * Further instructions will be given to those that sign up for the class.
