Kids Art Class Schedule!

Kids come join Miss Tasha and learn how to make great art projects and try cool tomatotechniques together!

Come ready to have fun and learn new things (remember to wear clothes that are ok to get a little messy)!

Lessons and projects are especially great for ages 6-12 years old but are enjoyable and adaptable for younger ages. For schedule of topics offered, just scroll down!

Please sign up and pay for the class in advance. Signing up in advance ensures that we will have enough materials and space to accommodate each child/family, and lets us know that our class minimum has been met. (You may sign up for more than one class at a time if you would like).

Each individual class is only $15 per student &
all materials will be provided!!! SIGN UP EARLY! CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED!

Schedule for May & June

birchesMay 4th– Masking Tape Birch Trees– at 10:00 am

Masking Tape and acrylic paints make these overlapping birch tree trunks easy and fun to create. Kids will learn how to use overlapping to show depth while making a beautiful painting.

 

 

 


nonMay 11 – Non-objective Art Collage – at 10:00 am

Nonobjective art is defined as "Artworks having no recognizable subject matter (not recognizable as such things as houses, trees, people, etc.) Also known as non-representational art". Students will paint such a painting, then cut it into pieces and re-arrange into a new, interesting finished work!

 



 


portraitMay 18 -  Chuck Close Portraits at 10:00 am

Trace the outline of your photograph onto graph paper and then fill in each segment with complimentary colors and fun shapes in the style of pop artist Chuck Close. Each student needs to bring a letter size copy of a photograph to trace.

May 25th– Chinese Calligraphy Brush Paintings– at 10:00 am

Students will learn standard brush strokes, try some calligraphy symbols, then complete a finished “scroll” painting of their own.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



okeefeJune 1 – Georgia O’Keefe flowers - at 10:00 am

Filling the entire paper can be difficult for child artists. This lesson will help them see BIG, with some guidance and few guidelines for the project. Their flowers will seem to come alive!

 

 



June 8 – Ben Day Dots – at 10:00 amsnazzy

Similar to pointillism, this technique of coloring comic book images with only a few colors of dots, giving an illusion of different colors to the eye is a great lesson in color blending and a great introduction to our next lesson, Comic Strips!

Kids will have fun telling a story across the page while honing their drawing skills.

 

 

 

 

 






June 22 – Grecian Urns – at 10:00 am

Scratch art is an easy, fun project for all ages. This time we will look at the art and designs of the ancient Greeks and scratch our own designs onto prepared Urn-shaped cards.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 






bagtreeJune 29 – Paper bag sculptures – at 10:00 am


Sculpting with different mediums besides clay can prove interesting. Students will use paper bags to twist and manipulate into a sculpture

 

 

 

 


July 6 – Piet Mondrian – at 10:00 ammondrian

Mondrian dubbed his own art ‘neo-olasticism”. Students will create their own minimalist piece using Mondrian’s famous limited color palette and black electrical tape.

 


collographJuly 13 – Crayon Rubbing Collographs – at 10:00 am

Using shapes cut from cardboard slipped under the paper,  students will make interesting rubbings that can be colored in for a finished work of art.

 

 

 

 

 


July 20 – Dali Elephants – at 10:00 am

Animal figures are one of the easiest sunjects for children to draw. What better introduction to surrealist Salvador Dali than to imitate his famous elongated elephants? Drawn with pencil and filled in with watercolor, these will a fun project to get creative with.
